The multinational car rental company AVIS, a leader in the rental of passenger and commercial vehicles, will radically reduce CO2 emissions already this year!

AVIS is the largest global car rental company in the world, operating in more than 180 countries. AVIS Slovensko has been offering its services for more than 26 years and is the largest rental provider of passenger and commercial vehicles up to 3.5t in Slovakia.

  • The planned purchase of new vehicles in 2023 is focused on low-emission vehicles and plug-in hybrid engines.
  • The company's total emissions should fall by up to 20% in 2023.
  • The average CO2 emissions of newly purchased vehicles should fall below 110g CO2 according to WLTP standards.
  • This year's total purchase of new vehicles will exceed 2,000 units.

MARCH 31, 2023, BRATISLAVA – In 2023, the car rental group AVIS Slovensko will radically reduce the CO2 emissions of newly purchased vehicles. All purchased cars will meet demanding requirements focused on consumption and CO2 emissions.

Despite the company's long-established strategy, it was not possible to proceed with the announced changes in recent years due to the inability to replace old vehicles with new ones.   Manufacturers stagnated and did not deliver new vehicles in terms of requirements. The key parameter of the purchase will be the conditions conditioned by vehicle consumption and the level of emissions. The planned engines will be petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid with a very low proportion of diesel vehicles mainly suitable for commercial vehicles.

The purchase will be made through renowned car companies with their latest models from VW, Stellantis, Renault, Kia, Volvo, Mercedes benz.

The goal of reducing emissions will be compliance between the required conditions for the operation of passenger and commercial vehicles required within the rules and standards 2019/631 EU.

To achieve these goals, the AVIS Slovakia group will purchase:
- low-emission vehicles whose average emissions according to the WLTP will meet the target of 90-110g,
- full hybrid vehicles will comply with 110g
- plug in hybrid vehicles with a target of 50g.

According to the key, the distribution of vehicle purchases will be 50% low-emission, 20% hybrid/full hybrid and 30% plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The key goal is to achieve a 20% year-on-year reduction in emissions by the end of 2023. In total, the vehicles purchased will produce expected average emissions at the level of 110g/CO2. The total purchase of vehicles in 2023 will exceed 2,000.

AVIS Slovakia is a trendsetter in future mobility innovations

AVIS Slovakia believes that, despite the current absence of legislation, in the near future the country will adopt measures to reduce the environmental burden that the EU is promoting. It sees the voluntary tightening of emission standards for its vehicle fleet as a commitment to customers and the country where it operates.

"We believe that the operation of a company like Avis is not only about providing services to customers, but also about mutual respect and environmental protection, in which AVIS is interested in participating," says Juraj Šulhaň, GM of AVIS Slovakia.
