Rental agreement conditions overview

Implication: by signing the rental agreement you agree to rent the vehicle from AVIS Slovakia and to be responsible for the vehicle and other items rented under the same agreement until they are handed over to a representative of AVIS Slovakia and inspected by AVIS Slovakia. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was provided to you.

Damage: You are liable for damage - based on a proven technical defect of the vehicle - to the rented vehicle that was not noted at the beginning of the contract. You will be liable for the cost of repairing this damage. The amount for which you will be liable will be limited to the excess agreed in the contract.

Returning the car outside office opening hours: If you decide to return the car outside office opening hours, you will still be responsible for it until it has been inspected by the rental company. We recommend that you thoroughly inspect the vehicle and take photographs. You should, if possible, park the vehicle in a safe place where parking is permitted.

We recommend that you ensure that the vehicle has been inspected by an AVIS Slovakia representative each time to ensure that both parties agree with the condition of the vehicle.

Traffic Offences: you are responsible for all traffic offences including parking and speeding offences while the vehicle is in your possession. In addition to the fine, you may be charged an administrative fee. How traffic offences are dealt with and charged depends on the type of fine and the country where the offence occurred. You are also responsible for paying toll charges for the use of toll road sections.

Fuel option: You will be given a number of options regarding the amount of fuel you will need to return the vehicle with. These will be explained to you at the start of your rental.

You should return the vehicle with the agreed amount of fuel and ensure that the correct type of fuel is filled. If you fail to do so, you will be charged additional costs.

Other drivers: only the driver(s) named on the hire agreement may drive the vehicle. You will be responsible for ensuring that no other person drives the vehicle.

Return: Unless otherwise agreed by the hire company, you will return the vehicle at the agreed time and place. Failure to do so will result in additional charges as defined in the terms and conditions.

Rental contract: Make sure you understand the terms and conditions. If any aspect of the contract is not clear to you, then you should ask the rental company for clarification.
