What you may not have known about this vehicle

The Škoda Superb is a fixture in the AVIS car rental offer due to its popularity. Do you know when and where this model is made and what the brand new 190-horse version of Style, which we offer in car rental, looks like?

  • consumption of a diesel engine with an output of up to 190 hp is only 4.7 l / 100 km;
  • all Superb vehicles in AVIS are new, with automatic transmission, 4x4 drive, navigation, Bluetooth, assistance systems or air conditioning;
  • the price includes all assistance services, service and a highway stamp.

Did you know that the Škoda brand is already commemorating the 125th anniversary of its foundation this year? It is one of the oldest car manufacturers in the world, and in AVIS our vehicles in Mladá Boleslav are extremely popular with customers. The foundations of the company were laid in 1895 and this year it will be 115 years since the start of production of passenger cars in Mladá Boleslav.

So you ask, what was produced in the first ten years of the company's existence? We may surprise you - bicycles, tricycles and small motorcycles. In December 1895, Václav Laurin and Václav Klement apparently had no idea how big a company they would eventually build. Today, their surnames are a sign of the best that the Škoda brand has to offer its customers. When the brand produced the Voiturette A in 1905, it was quite far from what we consider a car today. The Škoda Superb, as a full-fledged car with a fixed roof and a relatively contemporary interior, was manufactured between 1934 and 1949. It was not just any car, but a top machine for the demanding with an in-line six-cylinder that bore the handwriting of designer Vladimír Matouš. And the Škoda Superb 4000 was the first full-fledged luxury car model from ASAP (later AZNP) and historically the first with a V8 engine and all-wheel drive.

However, it would not be right to assume that the current Superb is a continuation of the 1930s and 1940s versions. The old version has been produced for skillfully five generations, and since 2001 a completely new story has been written. For the 21st century, the Superb stood on the VW B5 PL45 + concern platform and represented a higher class from Octavia, which we had until then considered to be the pinnacle of the Mladá Boleslav carmaker's capabilities. Superbom exceeded expectations and already in March 2008 introduced the second generation on the VW B6 A6 / PQ46 platform, which still travels the Slovak roads and takes care of the higher status of its owners.

The current third generation is already based on the so-called modular platform called MQB, which is a universal chassis of the Volkswagen Group, enabling unprecedented scalability.

In the AVIS car rental offer, we have brand new Superb vehicles after a facelift , which touched not only on the aesthetic design of the front and rear sections, but also on the technology. For the first time in its history, the carmaker also offers its flagship in a version with electrified propulsion and an off-road version of the Scout. There are still two body versions, station wagon and liftback.

Things worth knowing about Škoda Superb:

  • Although the Superb Scout version is new to us, the second generation Superb has been sold in some markets   in the AllDrive version   with conspicuous underbody cladding;
  • the original Škoda Superb had   the manufacturer's logo protruded from the bonnet   Rolls-Royce style;
  • the current third generation Superbu is produced not only in the plant in Kvasinky (Czech Republic) but also in Aurangabad, India, Oskemen, Kazakhstan and Nanjing, China;
  • At present, the most powerful variant of the Superb is the one with a 2.0 TSI engine and a 4x4 drive with a max. output 200 kW (272 hp) and max. torque 350 Nm;
  • the latest plug-in hybrid version combines a 1.4 TSI petrol engine with an electric motor, with a purely electric range of up to 56 kilometers;
  • the liftback version has a luggage compartment with an unprecedented volume of up to 625 liters and the station wagon version up to 660 liters;
  • in the AVIS car rental you can rent top 4x4 versions with a DSG automatic and up to 190 horsepower.

What does a Škoda Superb look like from a car rental company?

There is an AVIS car rental service   Škoda Superb   representative of the Standard Automatic category and the price for daily rental starts at 42 € without VAT. It thus ranks among the attractively priced offers, while the vehicles are completely new, in first-class technical condition and with excellent Style Plus equipment. All vehicles are equipped with a DSG automatic transmission and an extremely powerful 190-horsepower TDI diesel engine with a combined consumption of only 4.7 l / 100 km - this is an important detail, because refueling the tank will not be expensive when returning a rental car.
