CO2 EMISSIONS ACCELERATE GLOBAL WARMING. THE EUROPEAN UNION IS FIGHTING THEM RELENTLESSLY AND AVIS IS SETTING THE EXAMPLE.

The AVIS fleet is green and the only one that meets the prescribed emission limits.

CO2 emissions are clearly the biggest contributor to air pollution. They lead to significant climate changes. CO2 emissions accumulate in the atmosphere below the ozone layer. In layman's terms, these accumulated gases prevent heat from the earth from escaping into space, increasing the temperature on earth.

Countries around the world fight against CO2 emissions in different ways. Some more responsible, others marginally so. However, the world is one common place where we all live, and therefore this topic essentially concerns us without distinction. A week ago it happened   meeting of the UN , where the climate issue was addressed, while the main reason for this two-week climate summit is the adoption of measures that should fight against the increase of CO2 at the global level.

Despite constant reductions in CO2 over the past 10 years, this pace has slowed. When we look at why this is so despite the strategies and restrictions from the EU , we will see an interesting trend.

Customers increasingly prefer SUV car models, which, however, have higher CO2 emissions. These are mostly gasoline models with an average higher CO2 value of almost 10%. Users, whether private individuals or companies, have the greatest influence on the implementation of the CO2 emission reduction strategy.

The social responsibility of companies is set many times, especially in the West, but it is gradually penetrating the Slovak Republic as well, as a condition for the procurement of a vehicle fleet, not only the rental price but also the value of CO2 emissions, and accordingly it is decided which vehicles to add to its fleet from which provider he chooses.

Slovakia

In the current ranking of the purchase of new vehicles with average CO2, Slovakia finished at the bottom of the EU. The winners, on the other hand, are the countries in Scandinavia. What is it?

By default, Slovaks buy vehicles with high CO2 values. The main reason why this is so is the absence of state regulation, which does not create sufficient awareness of why a low CO2 value is important, and then, unfortunately, not only individuals but often also companies are not aware of it.

Due to the turbulence in the vehicle market and their huge shortage, it is not easy to choose vehicles that have low emissions and get to them without a long wait and at a reasonable price.

Despite this, AVIS goes against the grain and with its responsible approach sets a standard that the state does not even require yet. " We want to be a showcase for our partners and customers regarding our environmental goals and sustainability policy and thus contribute to a better, greener future ," revealed Juraj Šulhaň, CEO of AVIS.

Leaders must lead by example

In the mobility segment, AVIS is a world leader not only in terms of technology, branch network and service quality, but also in terms of social responsibility and sustainability strategy. The responsibility that the largest company in this segment has is not negligible at all, because the carbon footprint created by its more than 600,000 vehicles is not negligible.

In Slovak conditions, fulfilling the sustainability strategy is difficult, but not impossible. On the company's website –   www.avis.sk   for example, the current status of emission values of the entire AVIS fleet is published.

Tomorrow will be greener

It should be by 2035   prohibited to sell   vehicles with combustion engines. However, vehicle manufacturers will not wait to adapt their production capacities until this deadline, but will begin the transition to alternative drives much earlier.

The company AVIS already has in its   offer for long-term rental   vehicles with hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric drive. Average CO2 as one of the primary indicators is also monitored by the big players in the field of operational leasing and vehicle rental when choosing vehicles for their fleets. Also with conventional fuels, when deciding which vehicles AVIS will include in the fleet, the decision is made according to the factors of average CO2 emissions, among other things.

The intention to have a green vehicle fleet is really the easiest way for companies to contribute to the responsible coexistence of all of us.

Most importantly, and this applies to everything, it is necessary to bounce back from something and start. However, the sooner companies that drive vehicles many kilometers a month realize this, the sooner we will not only reach but exceed the common goal.
